This reflective research essay for Dr. Fleckenstein's ENGL 351: Language, Gender, and Power course was written in response to Linguists Eckert & McConnell-Ginet's claims regarding the construction of gender in relation to language.
This essay reflects my ability to consume, comprehend, critique and converse with academic research regarding linguistics while acknowledging my experience and education about LGBTQIA+ people, experiences, and how those groups of people should be included in these conversations if we are truly looking to understand how language and gender interact.
